Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. The Karst Plateau by Trieste. Mount Hermada (Grmada in Slovenian) is a low hill on the boundary between Italy and Slovenia. In the course of the WWI, it was an inexpugnable bulwark of the Austro-Hungarian Army, that defended Trieste from its top. 'Kohisce Houses'. The old farm that belonged to a noble family of Duino is now a heap of ruins. During the First World War it was a Austrian military site and the headquarters of mount Ermada.
