In 1864, during the great Sanitary Fair, held at LoganSquare, 18th and Race streets, for the benefit of the SanitaryCommission, a patriotic body, that looked after the welfare ofthe sick and wounded soldiers, in which over a million of dol-lars was realized, the firemen took quite an interest. Amongthe many ventures was a contest for a fire horn, many of the. \\iU Engine Co. boys in the service sending home their mite, for votes of theirfavorite company, the winner being the Good Will EngineCompany, Race street, below Broad street.
