The "community" Inca Trail - at base camp in the community of Quishuarani - the trekkers are emerging from their tents.
The Inca Trail is a trekking "holiday" that will vary from 1 to 7 days - the route and difficulty will vary and end at Machu Picchu. Probably the most popular are the "classic" and the "community" that are 4 and 5 days respectively. Normally meals are prepared for you, tents erected, tea and a bowl of hot water for washing are brought in the morning. On the "Community" trek you are encouraged to interact with the local community and part of the cost of the trip is donated for medical care, schooling, tools for farm work and warm clothes in cold months.
