A large antelope with long curving horns built similar to a horse with sturdy legs thick neck and a bushy mane The Sable as a long face with a wide gape both sexes carry curved strongly ridged horns and have a short glossy coat Female coloration is a rich chestnut with white facial belly and rump markings with a black mane and tail tuft in males the chestnut coloring is replaced by black as they get older The pictured roosevelti race is confined to the coastal areas of Kenya and Tanzania with perhaps a hundred or so animals locater in the Shimba Hills National Reserve
