Colourful Shophouses

The sino-portuguese architecture found in Southeast Asia. Once threatened with bulldozers to make way for modern boxes, they have recently been lovingly spruced up. Louvred windows and arches combined with Chinese tiles are hallmarks of these unique buildings, with thick walls to keep them cool on the inside. Usually these buildings are called shophouses, as there is commonly a business on the ground floor with a house or apartment upstairs.
