Bert Bateman, the capable decorator for the Hayward Floral Co., has re- turned from his vacation. Bert Harris, ;fiormeTly of the American Florist's Main street staff, is also at the Hay- ward now. Anton Soethout, of Gardener Junc- tion, near Hollywood, has been taking a tour around the Montebello section. He is expecting large consignments of Holland stock at once and says busi- ness keeps up well. The Star Nursery, of Montebello, is building a lath house, 40 x 400 feet. O. C. Saakes says he has planted about 200,000 bulbs this season at his Belvedere ranch and is just about through. Business keeps up well at the store. Wedding decorations and funeral work are the mainstay at the Free- man-Lewis store. Mr. Freeman is back again at work and is feeling much better. Tom Wright has been taking a trip around the growing places. Trade is fine at the Fourth street store. Tony Tassano is a busy man these days, his younger brother having gone north to join Joe. He has two extra men on at the store, to handle the increasing trade in choice greens and flowers. Frank Lichtenberg managed to get away for a week or two in the moun- tains October 15. First heavy busi- ness and then sickness kept him here late
