Occasionally we may find a true ulcer of the os, exca-vated, discharging pus, the margin blanched or white, thecenter red, and showing small granulations after we wipeaway the pus. I Avill suggest that we have always at hand adossil of lint or cotton or soft sponge, and a pair of longdressing forceps, with which to wipe away any secretionswhich may cover the os; otherwise we may be sadly misledin Fig. No. 19.—Uterine Dressing Forcers. Surroundingthis whitish margin we may have the mucous membrane con-siderably inflamed and quite red. Especially is this so, if it iscaused from the wearing of a hard pessary.
