Not a house existed when the propertywas opened up for development in Mr. Pauls name and a saleof lots made. Five houses were built in 1869 by Mr. Shippen,Mr. Dod, Mrs. Edwin A. Stevens and Mr. Paul. Mr. Robert Emery built a hotel on the river side near thedepot about the same time. The railroad had just been com-pleted and a station was built while the cottages were came the Jumping Point Drawbridge, for the develop-ment of Rumson Road, completed in 1870. h>om that timeforward the rowth of !>ea Bricfht was constant. 19.
