The line will bring Iowa City in touch witha portion of the country south of the city not heretofore con-nected with it by rail. The Iowa City, Davenport & Muscatine Company was in-corporated last fall, with a capital stock of $2,000,000, for thepurpose of constructing a line between Davenport and IowaCity, with a spur to Muscatine. The majority of the capitalstock is owned by St. Louis capitalists. The proposed line ofthe road between Iowa City and Davenport will be several. NEW PROJECTS IN IOWA Activity in the construction of electric railway lines in Iowaseems to be centered at Iowa City. Three lines into the cityare now practically assured, and two more are under considera-tion. If all of these lines are built the city will be connectedwith Council Bluffs on the west and Chicago on the east, anda number of systems, now practically isolated, will be linkedtogether to mutual advantage. The three assured lines are the Cedar Rapids, Iowa City &Southern, the Iowa City, Davenport & Muscatine, and theIowa City, Washington & Kalona Electric Railways. The firstmentioned line is projected from Cedar Rapids via Iowa Cityto the southern portion of the State. This line is under con-struction, and the grading has been completed from CedarRapids to within 2 miles of Iowa City. Track crews have beenworking south from Cedar Rapids for a month.
