Stomach cancer. Endoscopic view of stomach (gastric) cancer of the diffuse type, in the gastric antrum. Diffuse type cancers are poorly differentiated, with no standard shape, and produce large amounts of mucous. The tumours are adenocarcinomas, a type of cancer arising from glandular epithelial tissue. Stomach cancer is the fourth most common cancer worldwide. Several risk factors are thought to be involved including poor diet, smoking, and Helicobacter pylori (bacterial) infection.
