Forensic medicine scanner. ATOS 3D scanner and camera projecting a moving fringe pattern on to the surface of an object using blue light. By combining the information from the distortion of the fringe patterns from the two built-in cameras, the detailed 3D surface can be represented. This can be used post-mortem or in living people and is especially useful in identifying pattern injuries like bite marks, or boot prints and matching injuries to weapons of assault. Photographed in 2016 at the Institute for Forensic Medicine, Zurich, Switzerland.
