After a preliminary training in thecommon schools of Boston and the Boston JjatinSchool, he entered Harvard University, where he wasgraduated Bachelor of Arts in 1885 and Doctor ofMedicine in 18S9. He pursued his studies furtherin connection with various hospitals, and then cameto Michigan in 1890 and began the practice of hisprofession at Grand Rapids.
