Tutbury Castle in Staffordshire was nearly destroyed by Prince Edward in 1264 after the rebellion of Robert de Ferrers 6th Earl of Derby and after a further rebellion in 1269 the lands were given to Edmund Crouchback and have remained part of the Duchy of castle was largely repaired in the 1300's and then demolished from 1647 to 1648 after a siege and extensive damage .It was for a short time the home of Mary Queen of Scots who was kept prisoner there
