PARISH . 1669*— ,, HALF PENT Richard Rowlandson was a fellmonger and woolstapler, and lived on hisown estate at Lambert Ash, Grayrigg, where he carried on his business. Hehad branch establishments at Kendal, Kirkby-Stephen, and is stated that he walked to London and back on business three times, andthat he was there in the time of the Great Plague in 1665. This tokenobtained but a small circulation in consequence of the Act of Parliament whichsuppressed the issue of this description of copper currency. The Bodleiancontains a specimen. No. 9.
