An Ottoman silver-mounted karabela, end of the 17th century. A massive single-edged blade with a broad double-edged point and chiselled decoration on both sides. Silver quillons with remnants of gilding, the entire surface decorated with floral engraving. Typical herringbone pattern, horn grip scales. Wooden scabbard covered with partially tooled shagreen leather and silver mountings embossed en suite. The blade is partially corroded and has a notched point. Grip band missing.
