London, UK. 25th May 2017. Low paid staff who were asked to contribute to Tate director Nicolas Serota's leaving present of a sailing boat picket outside the staff entrance to the Tate Britain where guests are arriving for his leaving celebration to launch their annual Golden Boat Awards. The PCS Culture Group named him as the first recipient of the award for his services to the cause of privatisation, casualisation and low pay at the Tate. They demand complete parity of pay and conditions between Tate staff and outsourced zero hours Securitas staff, with trade union recognition and rights, job contracts and security for those who want it, protection and support for EU staff after Brexit and the reinstatement of staff discount in the canteen.
