In the years 1884 and 1885 he held theposition of priacipal of the graded school of his home town, andwas actively interested in all educational matters, and was presi-dent of the County Teachers Association. In the fall of 1886 hehe entered the Chicago College of Dental Surgery, from whichhe graduated in the spring of 1888, delivering the valedictoryaddress for his class.
