A heavy Southern German iron casket, presumably Nuremberg, circa 1620 Rectangular sheet iron body, reinforced edges with engraved and embossed decoration. Stepped base on four iron ball feet. False lock with curved escutcheon at the front, two hasps (partially replaced) with attached triangular locks (each one marked). The hinged lid with heavily reinforced edges. The cover of the central keyhole with hidden locking and spring-loaded lid. The inside with elaborate locking mechanism with tenfold locking. Replaced hollow shank key.
