The blade was first sawed from the reindeer horn longitudinally, then cut or scraped to a point. It is intended for thrusting and not for cutting. The handle is sculptured to represent a reindeer. The blade is a prolongation of the hind legs, the fore legs are drawn close to the belly, and, with the body, form the handle, which can be held firmly, while the head of the animal forms the pommel. The nose is thrown up, which brings the horns on the back, to which they are attached. While the sculpture of this specimen may not be so fine or delicate as some others, or may have deteriorated by use or exposure, yet the general outline is correct and.
