Walyunga National park is an area of Aboriginal significance and artifacts dating back 10s of thousands of years have been found in the park. In this respect Walyunga was an ancient meeting place of tribes from thousands of kilometres apart - the meeting area has revealed countless artifacts. The Avon river flows through Walyunga and the rapids are popular with modern day canoe types.
