Young Con,the future Supervisor, went throughthe local primary and grammarschools, but early branched out forhimself in a business way. and suc-cessfully. Tn the first instance hewas a particularly active newsboy, later, while still a very young lad,securing a position as assistant in electrical construction work inthe old California Gas & Electric Company, predecessor of the presentPacific Gas & Electric Company.
