Sunny coastal view, south to Telescope Point, white surf, black beach sand, palm trees, at Pearls Airport, Grenada, West Indies

Pearls Airport, north of Grenville, dates to 1943 and was Grenada's main airport before the opening in 1984 of a new international airport ('Maurice Bishop Airport') at Point Salines, in the south west of the island and much nearer the main tourist areas around Grand Anse and St George's. The Cold War relics of Antonov-2R and Antonov-26 aircraft at the head of the runway are the remains of a Cuban presence in Grenada 1979-83. A southward view of the coast at the seaward end of the runway.
