From the station two high-tension feeders run out inopposite directions along the track, as indicated in thewiring plan. One of these is of No. 4 wire as far as thefirst sub-station and No. 6 wire the remainder of the dis-tance to the second sub-station in the same direction; theother is No. 6 wire from the station to the only sub-sta-tion in that direction. The high-tension lines are carriedon Locke 5-J-in. triple-petticoat insulators on the poleswhich support the span wires. The high-tension wires areon one side of the road, clear of the feeders and telephoneline, which are kept on the other. The central power sta-tion itself contains a sub-station equipment, thus makingfour sub-stations altogether. Two 0000 feed wires are. MAIN OFFICES OF COMPANY carried throughout the whole length of the line as a sort ofside feeder. The company now has considerable unusedfeed wire on its hands, owing to the greatly reducedamount of copper necessary with the new system feeding500-volt lines at all points. In front of the central powerstation the trolley line is divided by section insulators andthe 0000 feed wires going to each direction are broughtinto circuit breakers on the board, so that either half of theline can be shut down and service continued on the otherhalf in case a wire is down or there is a heavy thunderstorm on one section. The sub-station switchboards arealso fitted with two feeder breakers, so that the electricalcontinuity of the line can be interrupted for the same pur-pose in front of the sub-stations by putting in section in-sulators if at any time it is found desirable. The sub-station equipments are in all cases the apparatus consists of one 250-kw rotary co
