Earth's internal structure. Cutaway artwork of the internal structure of the Earth, plus the overlying layer of the atmosphere. Below the atmosphere is the oceans and the land making up the crust. Below this is the upper mantle, on which the crust floats. Below this is the lower mantle. At the centre of the Earth is the outer core and inner core, which consists mostly of iron under great pressure and heat. The radius of the Earth is around 6360 kilometres.
