Royal Danish Opera House in Copenhagen, Denmark, foyer, by ”Henning Larsen Architects” - Olafur Eliasson hanging light design

Picture of the Royal Danish Opera house in Copenhagen, built in 2001-2004 with the architect company Henning Larsen Architects as the designer of this innovative project of Danish Design. The founding was provided by The Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation. Without this wealthy sponsorship the new Danish opera house would never have been such an extraordinary construction, a pleasure for the ears as well as for the eyes. The brown wooden cover of the wall to the right in the picture is mable treated in a way to activate associations of the opera audience toward violins and other kinds of stringed instruments build with wood. The three hanging light sculptures are designed by the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson and as can be seen in the image the colorful pieces of glass are even in daylight adding to the magic of the foyer and the expectations of the visitors before they enter the main auditorium to the right, depending on which balcony they have tickets for.
