MOSCOW, RUSSIA - Magnificent view from Vasileyvesky Spusk (Basil’s Slope) on the Moscow's most famous artistic work of architecture, Saint Basil's Cathedral (Original name The Cathedral of the Intercession of the Virgin on the Moat) in Red Square under impressive summer twilight skies. was constructed from 1555 to 1561 by the order of Ivan IV ("Ivan the Terrible") in celebration of the defeat of Kazan, the last remaining stronghold of the Mongol Empire (Golden Horde) on European lands.
