The Grand Canyon is one of the great natural landscapes on the planet. The beauty of their formations, 446 kms long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet or 1,800 metres). The waters of the Colorado River carved over millions of years exposing sections showing about 2,000 million years of Earth's history. The human presence is more than 3000 years and the first European who saw the canyon was Garcia Lopez de Cardenas in 1540. The Grand Canyon was one of the first National Parks of the United States, highlighting the care, protection and facilities to visit. El Cañon del Colorado es uno de los grandes escenarios naturales del planeta. A la belleza de sus formaciones se agregan sus colosales dimensiones: 446 kms de longitud, distancias entre sus riberas o bordes que varían entre 16 y 29 kms con una altura máxima en su garganta de 1470 metros. Las aguas del río Colorado horadaron durante millones de años dejando a la vista cortes que muestran cerca de 2,000 millones de años de historia del planeta. La presencia humana tiene más de 3 mil años y el primer europeo que lo vio fue Garcia Lopez de Cardenas en 1540. El Gran Cañon fue uno de los primeros Parques Naturales de los Estados Unidos, destacando su cuidado, protección y facilidades para visitarle. De los 4 millones de viajeros que recibe al año algunos hacen excursiones de un solo día pero la visita se puede extender por varias jornadas. Se pueden realizar descensos, visitar múltiples miradores a distintas horas del día o hacer vuelos en helicóptero.
