Roman theater, Royal Baths Park, Warsaw, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland


The Roman inspired Amphitheatre was built on the side of the Łazienki Lake with water separating the stage from the auditorium. It was built between the years 1790 -1793 by Jan Chrystian Kamesetzer. The attic of the Amphitheatre was decorated with sixteen figures representing famous poets of the antiquities. Stage on an island, was modelled on the ancient Herculaneum and enriched by decorations imitating antique ruins of the Forum Romanum. Performances are still occasionally staged here and it provides a perfect setting on a summer evening, despite the occasional noise from passing swans and ducks. (source: Wikipedia)
