Editorial use only Nerve stimulator biosensor. Biosensor probe used to stimulate nerves, being developed as part of research to help establish neurochemical biomarkers for evaluating electrical stimulation parameters in normal, diseased and damaged nerves. Under certain conditions, electrical neurostimulation can cause the release of harmful levels of neuroactive substances from the axons of nerves. This is part of a simple neurochemical release assay that can selectively detect neurotransmitters by using conventional electrophysiological techniques in conjunction with specialised biosensor probes such as this.
