A pub in Tewkesbury said to be Gloucestershire’s oldest is set to reopen after revamp. Ye Olde Black Bear is said to have been established in 1308. The pub at the junction of High Street and Mythe Road has not been open since 2017. Now it is undergoing a revamp and is set to reopen. A spokesperson for the venue said this would happen “this year some time”. They added: “I appreciate it’s taking time. It’s a labour of love and there is heavy investment to ensure it stays commercially viable as a pub for another 100 years.” The spokesperson said no changes to the pre-17th century part of the pub were being made.
