The entrance to the former Stasi Prison, Hohenschönhausen, east Berlin. The prison was located a special Restricted Area in east Berlin. This area was not open to the public during the Cold War as it housed the administration offices for the secret police (Stasi). Although open to the public today the area has a very surreal atmosphere, not helped by the fact all the office blocks are now empty and the whole area generally devoid of life.
