Fox Boy installation in Menstrie village square Andy Scott

This public art work by Glasgow sculptor Andy Scott, which features a boy with a fox's head sitting on a water wheel, was installed in Menstrie's Midtown Gardens in December 2008. It is the fourth such installation to be commissioned by Clackmannanshire Council. The water wheel recognises the past use of water power in the county, a buzzard is shown on the wheel, while a maple leaf at his right hand signifies the founding of Nova Scotia by a local man. Taken on a morning in April with tulips and other flowers surrounding the installation. The flag of Scotland and the flag of Newfoundland indicates the historical connection between Menstrie and Nova Scotia. In Menstrie are the remains of the castle of Sir William Alexander, Earl of Stirling - the Father of Nova Scotia.
