Sopwith Triplane owned and flown by the Shuttleworth Trust at Old Warden, Bedfordshire, England.


The Sopwith Triplane was a successful British World War I fighter or scout aircraft. It so impressed the Germans that they rushed to copy it, the result being the famous Fokker Triplane which became the favourite mount of the Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen. This modern example was built to the original plans and specifications and so impressed Sir Tom Sopwith when he saw it that he decreed that it should be classified as "late production," and not as a replica
