Children playing in Kurfüstendamm, Breictscheidplatz, Berlin, Germany, with the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in the background. The church was extensively damaged in an air raid on the 23rd November 1943, during World War II. After the war a decision was made to preserve the tower which was characterized as the heart of Berlin. The Memorial Church is a landmark of western Berlin and is called, by Berliners, "der hohle Zahn" which means 'the hollow tooth'.
