William Lebbecs Gaxs, attorney-at-law,was born in Springhill township, Fayettecounty, Pennsylvania, January 12, 1873. Heis a son of Lebbeus B. Gans, a farmer ofSpringhill township, whose personal historyis contained in this volume. William received his initial schooling in his na-tive township, took a short preparatorycourse at California State Normal school,entered Bethany college (W. Va.) in 1891and was graduated from that institution withthe class of 1895. He read law under thepreceptorship of Messrs. Howell & Reppert,of Uniontown, and was admitted to the Fay-ette County bar in June, 1897. He has sincebeen engaged in the general practice of hisprofession, with office in the Howell & Rep-pert law building. He was married on Janu-ary 10, 1900, to Miss Lucy C. Brooke, daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Brooke, of Lnion-town, Pa. Mr. Gans is a member of theJunior Order of American Mechanics, anda member and record and finance keeper of v« if. % >
