A research assistant examining a bone inside Unicorn Cave, a historic show cave, the largest visitor cave in the western part of the Harz
Here is the view looking out from inside Unicorn Cave towards the Blaue Grotte (Blue Grotto). In the summer months, when the sun is at its highest in the sky, a shaft of sunlight can be seen entering the cave turning the mist that lingers here a bright and vivid blue colour. The paintings on the rock in the foreground are not ancient art, just examples for the tourists who pass through this way on their journey through Unicorn Cave. The cave is the largest visitor cave in the western part of the Harz Mountains. Examining a bone is my photo assistant - Jeff Wade.
