Red-billed Oxpecker, Buphagus erythrorhyncus

The Oxpecker family are specialist feeders on the external parasites that plauge many mammals. They are provided food by the host and these alert birds are excellent early warning of potential danger to the host. A perfect example of a symbiotic relationship where both parties benefit from the interaction.
