The view is a well-known one from Magpie Island,but from the actual spot the castle is not excuse, however, is needed for the introductionof the hill and buildings in any scene of the valleyin which they form so prominent a feature. The platerenders form and detail with much distinctness, butthe magic of the colouring, on which the beauty ofthis picture especially depends, is sorely missed.
