An advert for Benger's 'Benergy', a beef-tea type hot drink and savoury flavouring - it appeared in a magazine published in the UK in 1946. Benger Foods came to Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, England, UK from Manchester, where the company had originated as Mottershead and Co in 1790, being acquired by the Benger family in 1870. The company manufactured pharmaceutical products including 'Benger’s Food', a milk supplement, widely used by infants and people in poor heath – vintage 1940s graphics.
