Aberystwyth Wales UK, Friday 28 November 2014 At the end of a fine dry and sunny day, starlings come in to roost on the cast iron legs of Aberystwyth pier at sundown. The dramatic murmuration of tens of thousands of birds is a nightly occurrence in the skies above the town and attracts photographers and bird watchers from all over the country. The Aberystwyth roost is, apparently, one of only three urban starling roosts in the UK Starling numbers are in decline across the UK, and the birds are on the RSPB's red list' of endangered species.
