A man cutting peat on a stretch of land on the island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. Peat cutting was a traditional method of gathering fuel for the winter in the sparsely-populated areas on Scotland's west coast and islands. The peat was dried and used in fires and ovens.
