The ancient decorative wooden oak roof of the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Bere Regis was donated by Cardinal Morton around 1485. In 1486 Morton, who was born in the parish, was made Archbishop of Canterbury. This unique carved and painted woodwork above the nave of the church includes a dozen life size figures representing the Twelve Apostles, also known as the Twelve Disciples, of Jesus.
