Palaeozoic animals. Artwork of various species of marine animal that existed in different periods of the Palaezoic era (between around 570 to 300 million years ago). These include Pteraspis (top), Arandaspis (blue, upper left) and Astrapis (orange, centre left) all of which were species both jawless armoured fish that existed in the Devonian period (around 416 to 359 million years ago). The large animal at right is an eurypterid. These were very large arthropods that predated the early forms of fish. They existed from 510 to 248 million years ago, from the Ordovician period to the end of the Permian period. Also depicted are cephalopods (centre) and trilobites (across bottom).
