The head of the female is of a pale reddifh brown : the bread is rather of a deeper color:the coverts of the wings a plain afh color : theback marked like that of the male : the belly afhcolored. Thele birds frequent frefh water as well asthe iea-, and being very delicate eating, are muchfought for in the. London markets, where they areknown by the name of Dm birds. Anas. Class II. The color a pale blue. The head, neck,and whole upper part of the bird is of an agreea-ble reddifh brown: the throat, bread and belly ofthe fame color, but paler : the legs of a pale blue;but the webs of the feet black. This fpecies, he informed us, was killed in Lin-colnjhire.
