At length thechurch was completed and furnished andon the 29th of June 1873, the Feast ofSaints Peter and Paul, Bishop ^Irak, un-der the assistance of Father Fox, thepastor, and the Revs. Charles Langner. ofEscanaba, and Edmund Walsh of FortHoward, Wisconsin, solemnly dedicatedit to the patronage of St. John theBaptist. The first baptism recorded is that ofAnthony Schreier, November 20, Fox left the parish April 4, Mrak and Father Oliver Comtois,alternately, filled out the few Sundaysintervening before the appointment of thesecond pastor, the Rev. Peter Menard,who arrived I^Iay 9, 1875. Father Menards first effort was to geta residence for himself. This was built. Lot 10 was purchased from S. M.
