At a dinner for thirty people, February 2, we had three tree ferns on a horseshoe table. The ferns were banked with primula plants and cut heather. F. C. Jaeger & Son have put off mak- ing some extensive window display work that they had planned to stage early in February, on account of the scarcity of stock. "We are finding diflSculty in filling our sliipping orders," said F. C. Jaeger, Jr. "Country customers con- sider the pruscnt prices so high that we have a hard time explaining the stock shortage to them. Even the city people are complaining, although I can say positively tliat business is ; Joseph's has a big display of original boxes, vases, etc., for Valentine's day. There are oriental boxes, surmounted by Chinese baby dolls, and intended to be filled with spring flowers, painted bowls filled with candy and sugar hearts, to which flowers will be tied, and numerous other novelties, all calculated to stimu- late interest in flowers on St. Valen- tine's day. Frank D. Pelicano, of Pelicano, Eossi & Co,, is sufi'ering from a slight touch of influenza and is confined to his home. Pelicano, Rossi & Co. are managing to get some exceptionally good violets; they are also cutting some fine Scotch heather. Podcsta & Baldocchi had the floral work for the Junior League Club's 3-day festival at the Fairmount hotel.
