The wheelis then fed into the groove and cleans itout to the desired shape. Form grinding is often done on internal or semi-internal operations where a groove is desired atthe face of circular dies. The sketch shows atypical example of a striking, or final operation, die used in the manufacture of housings to covermoving parts on a small machine. The pointsground are indicated by arrows. The wheel wasdressed to the proper face with a piece of brokenwheel. The die was revolved in a chuck and thewheel fed direct into the sides of the die. Thisoperation saved considerable hand scraping and leftthe die ready for polishing. The wheel used wasan Alundum wheel, grain size 70, grade N, andwas done on a lathe equipped with a portableelectric — G/?/NO Form grinding circular striking die—dierevolved in chuck.
