Wirksworth Great Barmote Court. Carved tablet on wall of the Moot Hall bearing names of former and current Stewards and Barmasters. The Derbyshire White Peak has been the site of lead mining activity since Roman times. Barmote Courts have been held since 1288 and are thought to be the oldest industrial courts in the world. The court now sits annually at the Moot Hall, Wirksworth on the 3rd Wednesday in April.
