Toad foot. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the front foot of a young common toad (Bufo bufo), showing its claws (brown) and warty skin, The common toad is widespread throughout Europe. Their skin has a warty appearance and ranges from green to brown in colour. Young common toads eat ants and some small flies. Adults eat invertebrates such as insects, larvae, spiders, slugs and worms, which they catch on their sticky tongues. Magnification: x15 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
