Parchment, Michigan – Following the discovery of high concentrations of PFAS in Parchment's drinking water, efforts are underway to connect the city's water system to that of nearby Kalamazoo, Michigan. As the contaminated water is flushed from Parchment's system, some of it is directed to a small stream that leads to the Kalamazoo River. PFAS is a family of chemicals widely used in firefighting foam, waterproofing for clothing, and many other products. Exposure has been linked to a variety of serious diseases.
